The Speaker of the parliament Paula Risikko on Saturday said that there should be easier provision in the country to cancel the residence permit of an immigrant, if convicted of criminal acts, reported national broadcaster Yle.

Risikko, a leader of the Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), one of the components of the three-party alliance government made the remarks while talking to Yle in its Ykkösaamu (Morning Breakfast) programme.

She suggested amendment to the respective law with the provision for easier cancelation of residence permit and deport the immigrants, if the holders are convicted of crimes.

She said that while the country will continue to offer protection to those in need,´´the country’s system can also be abused," said the Yle report quoting Risikko as saying, adding,” we must have the possibility to nullify residence permits, including permanent ones.”
