Conscript dies as training vehicle turns turtle in Rovajärvi

A conscript was killed when his all-terrain vehicle turned turtle during a training session at Rovajärvi on Thursday, sources at the Finnish Defence Forces said.

The conscript of Kainuu brigade was taking part in the Arctic Shield 18 exercise, said a press release of the Defence Forces.

The accident took place at 6:44am when the vehicle overturned on a slippery slope.

The rescue and emergency care unit rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and found the conscript dead.

The family of the deceased was informed about the accident and the police are investigating into the matter, the press release added.
