9 killed, 540 injured in road mishaps in June

At least nine persons were killed and 540 others injured in 416 separate road accidents in the country in June, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of persons killed was seven less than that in June 2017, while the number of persons injured was 27 more.

Of the persons who were killed, five were travelling by private cars, one by moped and three by motorcycles. Eight of them were men and one was a woman.

A total of 1,912 road traffic accidents involving personal injury took place in the January to June period. At least 88 persons were killed and 2,428 people injured in these accidents in that period.

The number of persons killed was 21 less and the number of persons injured was 86 lower than that in the corresponding period of 2017.
