15 killed in road mishaps in August

At least 15 persons were killed and 549 other injured in 449 accidents in the country in August, according to the Statistics Finland.

The number of persons killed was 14 less and that of persons injured 71 less than that in August 2016.

Of the killed, five were travelling by passenger cars, two by van, two by motorcycle, one by lorry and two by bus.

Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered three.

Among those who died, 14 were men and one was a woman.

A total of 2,877 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to August and a total of 146 persons were killed and 3,616 injured.
