Police urge for using summer tyres in Helsinki

The Helsinki police have urged motorists to change to summer tyres, said a police bulletin.

The police posted on its Twitter page that the coming weekend is a good time to change the tyres.

Starting next week, the police said they will impose fines on motorists still using studded tyres. According to the police, there is no ground to use studded tyres before next autumn.

The penalty for using studded tyres is 100 euros.

According to Traficom, Studded tyres can be used from 1 November to 31 March and also during other periods if so required by weather or road surface conditions.
