Two people were killed and three others critically injured in three separate snowmobile accidents in Lapland during the Easter holidays, said the police in a press release on Sunday.
The accidents took place on the first day of Easter.
The police, however, did not divulge more details about the accidents and the victims.
The law-enforcing agency, however, urged the holidaymakers to drive snowmobile following the traffic rules to avoid accidents.
Meanwhile, the Easter was celebrated on Sunday across the country with very little outdoor activities and gathering as the country is going through various restrictive measures against the backdrop of worsening coronavirus situation.
Some people, however, rushed to the north and enjoyed the snow- and ice-based activities during the holidays.
Most of the holidaymakers gathered in Lapland along with the locals to drive snowmobile while a significant number of people rushed to ski resorts to enjoy downhill skiing.
While visiting the Levi ski resort in Kittilä on Sunday, the Daily Finland found that several hundreds of people were busy with downhill skiing.
Many of them did not maintain proper safety distance instructed by the authorities to curb the spread of coronavirus.
