2 burnt to death in Salo apartment fire

Two elderly persons were killed and one sustained burn injury in a fire at an apartment of a residential building at Kontionkuja in Salo on Sunday morning, said the police.

The deceased are an 82-year-old man and an 81-year-old woman.

The fire broke out at about 9:50 PM and engulfed an apartment on the top floor of the four-storey building immediately.

Rescue service personnel rushed to the spot immediately responding to a call and brought the fire under control by noon.

The fire-fighters found two residents of the apartment dead and another injured.

The residents of other apartments in the flat were evacuated after the fire.

The police, however, did not divulge any more detail in this regard. They are investigating the incident.
