Prime Minister Sanna Marin has been named in the list of the 100 most “inspiring and influential” women of 2020 in the world published by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

The list has been prepared in four categories -- knowledge, leadership, creativity, and identity and Marin was included in the ‘Leadership’ category.

In the profile of the Finnish prime minister the BBC wrote that Sanna Marin is prime minister of Finland and leader of the Social Democratic Party of Finland and Finland has been hailed for handling the coronavirus.

“Finland has been hailed for its handling of COVID-19, with one of the lowest infection rates in Europe, as of November 2020,” wrote BBC in her profile.

This year BBC’s 100 Women is highlighting those who are leading change and making a difference during these turbulent times.

The top place of the 100 has been left blank, under the pseudonym ‘Unsung Hero’ to pay tributes to those women who made sacrifices to help others.

The BBC’s 100 Women team drew up a shortlist based on names gathered by them and suggested by the BBC’s network of World Service languages teams.

The pool of names was then assessed against this year’s theme – women who led change – and measured for regional representation and due impartiality, before the final names were chosen, said BBC.
