Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) leader Annika Saarikko, who went on maternity leave last year, returned to the cabinet of the five-party alliance government on Thursday, said a government press release.

The president appointed Saarikko a member of the government and minister of science and culture.

On the same occasion, the president released Member of Parliament and entrepreneur Hanna Kosonen as minister of science and culture and a cabinet member.

Saarikko, a 36-year-old leader, took leave of absence in August last year for one year for child birth and care.

Kosonen was appointed minister of science and culture and a cabinet member in august last year for the one-year interim period.
