Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Thursday spoke with European Council President Charles Michel and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez over telephone and discussed about the videoconference of the European Council members scheduled for Friday.

She informed Michel about Finland’s main views on the European Commission’s revised multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027 and the proposal for a new EU recovery instrument, which will be discussed at the videoconference, said a government press release.

The PM discussed the coronavirus situation in Europe with his Spanish counterpart Sánchez. Sánchez was scheduled to visit Finland in the spring, but the visit had to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The prime ministers highlighted the importance of coordinated measures in lifting the coronavirus restrictions imposed in the EU countries.

Marin and Sánchez also discussed the European Commission’s proposal and where their views on the issue concur and differ.
