12 killed, 234 injured in road mishaps in April

A total of 12 persons were killed and 234 others injured in 189 road accidents in the country in April, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of persons killed was five lower and that of persons injured 99 lower than the corresponding figures of April 2019.

Eight of the deceased were travelling by private cars. Two other persons –a pedestrians and a cyclist– were also killed in the accidents.

In addition, two other road users were killed.

Among those who died, eight were men and four women.

A total of 67 persons were killed and 1,196 others injured in 957 road accidents in the period of January to April.

The number of persons killed was 10 higher and that of persons injured 145 lower than the corresponding numbers in the same period last year.
