205 people killed, 4987 injured in road mishaps in country last year

A total of 11 people were killed and 401 other injured in 303 road accidents in December in the country.

The number of persons killed was 14 lower and that of persons injured 19 higher compared to the stipulated month of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

Of the persons who were killed, seven travelled by private car. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists one. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, eight were men and three were women.

A total of 205 persons were killed and 4,987 other injured in 3,977 road traffic accidents involving personal injury took place in January to December period in 2019.

The number of persons killed was 32 lower and that of persons injured 288 lower than in the corresponding period of 2018.

Of the persons who were killed, 121 travelled by private car, 10 by van, three by moped, 25 by motorcycle and three by lorry.

Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 18. In addition, 10 other road users were killed.
