Leaders of the five-party alliance of the outgoing government of Antti Rinne still believe that they would continue the programme outlined by Rinne.
They said on Saturday that they approved the government ptogramme taken by the outgoing Prime Minister Antti Rinne, national broadcaster Yle reported.
Rinne will lead the negotiations on formation of a new government.
The components of the Rinne’s five-party coalition were Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP), Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland), Vihreäliitto (Green League), Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) and Suomenruotsalainenkansanpuolue (Swedish People's Party of Finland-RKP).
Antti Rinne resigned on December 3 as one of the coalition partners decided not to back him.
The Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) withdrew its backing for Rinne following the recent massive postal strike across the country.
