Latvia President due Helsinki on Wednesday

President of Latvia Egils Levits will pay a working visit to Finland on Wednesday, said a press release issued by the Finnish President Office.

The visit will be hosted by President Sauli Niinistö.

Niinistö and Levits will hold official discussions in the Presidential Palace. The topics of discussion will include bilateral relations between Finland and Latvia, security issues regarding the Baltic Sea region and Europe, and climate change.

Following their discussions, the Presidents will hold a joint press conference.

During his working visit, Levits will also meet Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Tuula Haatainen and visit the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats.

This will be the first meeting of Niinistö and Levits. Former President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis made a working visit to Finland in 2016. President Niinistö last visited Latvia in November 2018.
