Three people were killed after a fire broke out at a two-storey log cottage in Levi, northern Finland, on Friday morning.
According to the police, one person was woken up by the cabin's smoke alarm, but the other three could not be rescued. The fire was distinguished in about two hours and the cottage was destroyed.
Kirsi Huhtamaki, detective inspector at Lapland Police Department, told Finnish national broadcaster Yle that the four people in the cottage were Finnish vacationers, but she did not disclose the victims' ages and whether they were the same family or relatives.
The police are investigating the cause of the fire. "At this stage there is no reason to suspect a crime," Huhtamaki was quoted as saying.
