2338 more coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week, no new death

The coronavirus death toll in the country remained at 978 as no new death was reported in the country in the last one week since Thursday, 15 July, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 101, 226 as 2338 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.

Out of the new cases, 324 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 380 on Friday, 384 on Saturday, 180 on Sunday, 156 on Monday, 461 on Tuesday and 453 on Wednesday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 10, 679. Of them, 7,904 are Alfa variants, 1,428 Beta variants, six Gamma variants and 1341 Delta variants.

A total of 56 coronavirus patients, including 10 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,828 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
