3 more deaths, 254 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The country’s coronavirus death toll has reached 922 as three more patients died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 88, 332 as 254 new cases were diagnosed in that time.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country increased to 5,946. Of them, 4,924 are UK variants, 1020 South African variants, and two are Brazilian variant.

So far, 599 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 100 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 84 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), 82 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), and 57 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 133 coronavirus patients, including 28 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,595 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
