Helsinki vaccinating 55-59-year-olds

The COVID-19 vaccinations process for Helsinki residents aged 55-59 will begin on Tuesday, said the city in a press release on Monday.

The booking of vaccination appointments will open on Tuesday and people can make appointments online or over phone.

The appointment-booking number is available on weekdays from 8:00 to 18:00 hours.

Vaccinations are being carried out at the vaccination points of Jätkäsaari, Messukeskus, Malmi, and Myllypuro.

The coronavirus vaccinations of Helsinki residents aged 60 and above are still ongoing. In Helsinki, 90% of people aged 75 and above have so far received their first dose of vaccine, while 87% of people aged 70-74have been vaccinated.

At the moment, 76 per cent of people aged 65-69 and 57 per cent of people aged 60-64 have received their first vaccine jab.

Vaccination of persons susceptible to severe coronavirus disease (risk groups 1 and 2) due to an illness or condition will also continue.

The City of Helsinki uses two different vaccines. At present, people aged 65 and above are getting the AstraZeneca vaccine and those aged 16-64 are being given the Pfizer vaccine.
