Researchers develop AI method to link immune cells to targets

Finnish researchers have developed an artificial intelligence-based (AI) method to link immune cells to their targets, reported Xinhua, quoting a press release issued by the University of Helsinki on Thursday.

The method enables the researchers to distinguish, for example, white blood cells that can recognize SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

The method, jointly developed by the University of Helsinki and Aalto University, has a wide range of application in understanding the role of the immune system in infections, autoimmune disorders and cancer, said the press release.

The study was published in the scientific journal PLOS Computational Biology.
