5 more deaths,1671 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 822 as five more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Out of the deaths, three were reported in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS) while one was reported in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS) each.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 76, 425 as 1671 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days

Out of the new cases, 791 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 458 on Sunday, and 422 on Monday.

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remained at 2,584. Out of them, 2,403 were UK variants, 180 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.

So far, 531 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 86 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 72 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), and 54 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 313 coronavirus patients, including 54 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,380 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
