3 more deaths,1806 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 72, 073 as 1806 new cases were diagnosed in the three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Out of the new cases, 856 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 520 on Sunday, and 430 on Monday.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 808 as three more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the three days. Out of the deaths, two were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) while the other was reported in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS).

The number of coronavirus variants in the country remains at 1,963. Out of them, 1,823 were UK variants, 139 South African variants, and one was Brazilian variant.

So far, 525 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 84 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 68 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS), and 52 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 306 coronavirus patients, including 55 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1,302 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
