3 more deaths, 565 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 740 as three more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

Out of the deaths, one was reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS) each.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 55, 687 as 565 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far, 489 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 77 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 62 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 33 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 194 coronavirus patients, including 36 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 1006 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
