3 more deaths, 590 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 737 as three more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday.

Out of the deaths, two were reported in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) while the rest one was reported in Tampere-Pirkanmaa Hospital District (TAYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 55, 122 as 590 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far, 488 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 76 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 61 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 33 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 193 coronavirus patients, including 35 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 996 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
