1 more death, 444 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 726 as one more patient died in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Meanwhile, the THL corrected the death figure of the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) again on Friday.

On Thursday, the THL said the total number of deaths in the HUS was 484, which was corrected to 483 on Friday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 52,653 as 444 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours until the issuance of the press release.

So far, 483 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 79 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 72 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 59 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 33 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 141 coronavirus patients, including 24 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 950 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
