No new death, 348 more coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland remained unchanged at 655, as no more patient died in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 43,120 as 348 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far 446 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 76 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 51 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 50 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 32 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 141 coronavirus patients, including 21 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 778 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
