6 more deaths, 399 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 638, as six more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

Out of the deaths, five were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) while one was reported in Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 41, 565 as 399 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

So far 433 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 74 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 51 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 49 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 31 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 148 coronavirus patients, including 26 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 750 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
