Deaths corrected to 632, 444 new coronavirus cases diagnosed

The coronavirus death toll in Finland stood at 632, as said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday corrected the number.

The THL on Tuesday announced the total number of deaths in the country 633.

The numbers of deaths in different hospital districts were also corrected on Wednesday.

As per the corrected figure, so far, a total of 428 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 74 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 50 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 49 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 31 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 41,166 as 444 new cases were diagnosed in the last 24 hours.

A total of 146 coronavirus patients, including 27 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 743 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
