3 more deaths, 594 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 621, as three more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Out of the deaths, one was reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), one in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and one in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 40, 505 as 594 new cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the infections, 190 were reported on Saturday, 236 on Sunday and 168 on Monday, said the THL.

So far, a total of 421 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 73 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 49 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, 46 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS) and 32 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 148 coronavirus patients, including 27 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 731 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
