11 more deaths, 299 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 24 hours

The coronavirus death toll in Finland rose to 576, as 11 more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Tuesday.

Out of the deaths, nine were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), one in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and one in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 37, 218, as 299 new cases were diagnosed since the last 24 hours.

So far, a total of 395 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 69 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 41 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 40 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District, and 31 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

Until Tuesday, 31, 000 or more than 80% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 188 coronavirus patients, including 25 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 671 per 100,000 people. Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
