Finland has the possibility to get the coronavirus vaccine as early as December, as the vaccinations may start in Europe this month, reported the national broadcaster Yle, quoting officials of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

As per the initial estimation, the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine could be approved for use in early December and they could start supplying vaccines immediately, said the report.

“Provisions have been made for the possibility of starting vaccinations quickly after authorisation has been granted and once vaccine batches have been received,” the Yle report quoted Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Chief Physician Sari Ekholm as saying.

The pace in the development process of the vaccine surprised the authorities, although the authorities speeded up the permission process.

Tampere University Vaccine Research Centre Director Mika Rämet told Yle that the situation is promising and the protective efficiency of the vaccines was proved.

The authorities, however, did not disclose the schedule of the vaccination for all the people.
