5 more deaths,1114 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 2 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 393, as five more patients – four in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and one in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS)-died in the last two days since Wednesday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 23, 766 as 1114 more cases were diagnosed in the last two days.

Out of the new cases, 496 infections were diagnosed on Thursday and 618 on Friday, said the THL.

So far a total of 305 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 30 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 22 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 22 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and 14 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Friday, 16, 800 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 152 coronavirus patients, including 19 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 428 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
