4 more deaths, 716 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 2 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 388, as four more patients – three in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and one in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS)-died in the last two days since Monday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 22,652 as 716 more cases were diagnosed in the last two days.

Out of the new cases, 353 infections were diagnosed on Tuesday and 363 on Wednesday, said the THL.

So far a total of 301 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 30 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 22 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 21 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and 14 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Wednesday, 16, 800 or more than 70% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 134 coronavirus patients, including 21 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 409 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
