9 more deaths, 1189 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 384, as nine more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the last three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 21,936 as 1,189 more cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the deaths, four were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), three in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), one in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS) and one in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Out of the new cases, 469 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 423 on Sunday and 297 on Monday, said the THL.

So far a total of 298 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 29 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 22 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 21 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and 14 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Monday, 15,300 or more than 75% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 120 coronavirus patients, including 15 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 395 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
