1 more death, 812 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 2 days

The number of coronavirus deaths in Finland increased to 375, as one more patient died in in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS) in the last two days since Wednesday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Friday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 20,747 as 812 more cases were diagnosed in the last two days.

Out of the new cases, 351 infections were diagnosed on Thursday and 461 on Friday.

So far a total of 294 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 28 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 22 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 18 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and 13 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Friday, 15,300 or more than 75% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 104 coronavirus patients, including 10 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 374 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
