3 more deaths, 516 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 2 days

The number of coronavirus deaths in Finland increased to 374, as three more patients- one in Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and two in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS)- died in the last two days since Monday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 19,935 as 516 more cases were diagnosed in the last two days.

Out of the new cases, 228 infections were diagnosed on Tuesday and 288 on Wednesday.

So far a total of 294 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 28 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 22 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 17 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and 13 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Until Wednesday, 15,300 or more than 75% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 90 coronavirus patients, including 12 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 360 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
