Six occupational health employees in Helsinki were found to be infected with coronavirus at the beginning October, said the City of Helsinki in a press release on Thursday.

Occupational Health Helsinki employs about 150 people. The infections originated from multiple infection chains, which are currently being investigated by the City of Helsinki’s epidemiologic unit. The exposed persons have been identified and contacted.

The exposed persons and all employees who worked in the same areas will be tested as per the instructions of the epidemiologic unit. Measures necessitated by the epidemic have been taken.

“We take this situation very seriously. The staff have been informed and instructed on what to do next. All Occupational Health Helsinki employees adhere to nationwide instructions on hygiene, safe distancing, and personal protective equipment. We are also stressing their importance to all employees even more than before,” said City of Helsinki Occupational Health Services Director Tiina Pohjonen.

Occupational Health Helsinki will begin providing some clinic services remotely. Each customer will be personally informed about any changes to appointment type. In-person appointments will be arranged as necessary.
