2 more deaths, 188 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The number of coronavirus deaths in Finland has increased to 341, as two more patients– one in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) and another in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District– died in the last three days since Friday, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

So far, a total of 278 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 20 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 13 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and five in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 9,046 as 188 more cases were diagnosed in the last three days.

Out of the infections, 64 were diagnosed on Saturday, 58 on Sunday and 66 on Monday, said the THL.

Previously the last coronavirus death was reported on 14 September.

Until Monday, 7,700 or more than 85% coronavirus-infected patients in Finland had recovered.

A total of 19 coronavirus patients, including two in the intensive care unit (ICU), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 163 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 20,000 samples a day.
