A child was infected with coronavirus in Rovaniemi, reported the national broadcaster Yle on Saturday.

The child at Poropolku daycare centre in Rovaniemi was the case of a chain of infections – one at a daycare and another in the Defence Forces reported earlier.

With these, a total of 70 people exposed to coronavirus have already been tested in Rovaniemi.

Lapland Central Hospital Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr. Markku Broas said they are waiting for the results of a few more tests.

“Some of the people tested in the Defence Forces work elsewhere in Finland, and their test results may be delayed for some time. For the daycare centre, all tests were negative except for one case,” Broas told the Yle.

There is also the possibility of exposure at Hoplop, an indoor adventure park in Rovaniemi.

The infected child had visited the Hoplop and it is therefore possible that other people at the place have also been exposed to the virus, the Yle report quoted Broas as saying.

“We recommend that the people who visited the place between 11:00 AM and the closing time on that day come for testing, even if mild symptoms occur within two weeks,” Broas told Yle.
