8 new infections, no coronavirus death in 6 days

The number of coronavirus deaths in Finland remained unchanged at 329 as no new death had been reported in the country in six days since Friday last, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections increased to 7273 as eight more cases had been diagnosed in the last 24 hours until Thursday afternoon.

A total of 19 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country including two in intensive care unit (ICU).

So far, a total of 272 people had died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 25 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 17 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 12 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS), and three in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

More than 6,800 patients, or 90% of the total number of infected people, have recovered from the disease.

Currently, laboratories in the country are testing about 13,000 samples a day.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of cases is 131 per 100,000 people.
