The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Thursday reported only the new cases of coronavirus infection in the country due to an extensive information system failure.

The total number of cases of coronavirus infection increased to 7,119 as two more cases had been diagnosed in the 24 hours until Thursday morning, said THL.

The THL, however, failed to give any update of the total deaths and other information citing a system failure.

The epidemic situation in Finland has calmed down. From now on, THL will post situation updates only on weekdays but will continue to monitor the situation closely.

The next situation update will be published on 22 June, said THL.

Due to the information system failure there may also be delays in updating the corona map in the coming days. The corona map will be updated daily. THL apologised for the possible delays.

According to Wednesday’s report, the number of coronavirus deaths in Finland remained unchanged at 326 as no new death had been reported for the third consecutive day.

More than 6,200 patients, which is 85% of the total infected people, have recovered from the disease.

Presently, 26 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals, including two in intensive care units.

Currently, laboratories in the country are testing about 13,000 samples a day.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of cases is 128 per 100,000 people.
