Number of coronavirus infection cases in Finland rises to 155

The number of coronavirus infection cases rises to 155 in Finland as 51 more cases were diagnosed at different parts of the country on Friday, said National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Out of the 51 new cases, 24 were detected in the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District, seven were in the Hospital District of Southwest Finland, five cases in the Pirkanmaa Hospital District, six cases in the Central Finland Hospital District, five cases in Satakunta Hospital District, two cases in the Kanta-Häme Hospital District and one case in the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District and Vaasa Hospital District each.

Meanwhile, number of scheduled programmes and events have been cancelled following the government instruction given on Thursday.

The government on Thursday has recommended that all public events with more than 500 attendees be cancelled until the end of May.

The government took the decision and made a set of recommendations and preparedness measures following a discussion on the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Organisers of other events are also advised to consider, based on their risk assessments, whether or not to organise similar events.

All major seminars and events organised by the state will be cancelled until the end of May.

The 80th anniversary of the end of the Winter War, scheduled to be celebrated at the Helsinki Cathedral on Friday , March 13 has been cancelled due of the coronavirus outbreak.

EU Speakers Conference in Helsinki scheduled for May also has been cancelled.

Meanwhile, scarcity of hand sanitizer created in the market following the coronavirus outbreak situation. Daily Finland correspondents visited several grocery stores and medicine shops in Helsinki and Rovaniemi and did not find any hand sanitizer there.

The sellers said that all the hand sanitizers were sold out and it will take few days to get the product.
