Number of coronavirus infection cases in Finland rises to 59

The number of coronavirus infection cases rises to 59 in Finland as 19 more cases were diagnosed on Wednesday, said National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Out of the new 19 infections, 11 cases were spotted Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District, said a THL press release.

Three cases were delectated in Pirkanmaa Hospital District while one case was detected in Southwest Finland, Central Finland, Kanta-Häme, South Karelia and Southern Ostrobothnia each.

Hospital districts and local health authorities will continue to investigate the situation with the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Six of the new cases confirmed in the Uusimaa region were adult women, four were adult men and one was a child, reported national broadcaster Yle, adding that all of the patients were sent home after providing samples for testing.

Another adult male patient at Forssa in Kanta-Häme who has been infected by the virus had been exposed to an infected person at the Wahre community college, the Yle report said, adding that the man recently travelled to an outbreak area in Austria and returned on 1 March.
