11 arrested in Paris suburbs over robbery

French police arrested 11 muggers suspected of violent robbery and extortion against Chinese community in Aubervilliers, northeastern Paris, Paris police prefecture announced on Tuesday.

"The victims, all of Chinese origin and on board their vehicles, are followed either at the exit of restaurants popular with Asian community, or from their places of work, and are stolen their worthy belongings during violent attacks during their arrival at home," it said in a statement.

The gang was accused of carrying out 13 robberies and extortions from Aug. 19 to Oct. 2, it added.

The French capital has been faced with public security problems, and it has reported a series of muggings and attacks against Chinese tourists and Chinese French.
