The European Union (EU) announced on Monday that it will contribute about 10.8 million U.S. dollars to support the Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem, reported Xinhua.

In a press statement sent to Xinhua, Sven Kuhn Von Burgdsroff, the EU representative in Palestine, said that "the new contribution comes amid the enormous challenges facing the Palestinian health sector because of the novel coronavirus."

"The Palestinian hospitals in East Jerusalem provide high-quality health services to thousands of Palestinians from the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza strip. So, the contribution will help the hospitals maintain their services for the people amid the COVID-19 pandemic," the official said.
