Turkish authorities seized on Wednesday approximately 20 tons of smuggled wine in the western province of Manisa in massive raids, reported Xinhua.
Following a tip-off, police and gendarmerie forces launched the operations simultaneously at 12 addresses across the province, the state-run Anadolu news agency said.
Some photos published by Anadolu showed multiple big plastic cans full of wines, which were later delivered to a related state-institution for examination.
The agency noted that 12 suspects were detained during the raids.
Since Oct. 9, at least 67 people have died of methyl alcohol poisoning in the country.
Police have so far caught a total of 418 suspects for producing bootleg alcohol in continuous operations, according to press reports.
