Estonia eases travel requirement from Finland, Latvia, Lithuania

The Estonian government has eased, in justified cases, the self-isolation requirement for some people arriving from Latvia, Lithuania and Finland as of Monday to simplify cross-border travel within the area, reported Xinhua.

Prior to the amendment which was approved on Friday and enters into force on Monday, people from Latvia, Lithuania or Finland were required to self-isolate for 14 days when coming to Estonia, if the coronavirus infection rate of the relevant country is 25 or higher per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the Estonian government.

Now people from these countries who come to Estonia to work, study, access healthcare services, attend a family event or for the purposes of transit, and exhibit no symptoms or have had no known contact with an infected person, are not required to self-isolate for two weeks, even if the infection rate of the three countries rises above 25 per 100,000, said the government in a press release.

The self-quarantine requirement for people travelling to Estonia from other European Union or Schengen countries depends on the coronavirus infection rate of the specific country.

Those from the countries where the infection rate of the last 14 days per 100,000 people is not higher than 16-17.6, and has not increased over the past two weeks, will not be subject to an additional restriction on movement, said the government.
