Russia COVID-19 cases up 7,867 to 1,151,438

Russia reported 7,867 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its national count to 1,151,438, the country's COVID-19 response center said in a statement on Sunday, reported Xinhua.

Russia's COVID-19 infections have been growing fast after the summer holiday season with large-group gatherings and many restrictions lifted, it said.

In capital Moscow, 2,016 new infections were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the city's total to 285,776, the center added.

As of Saturday, 220,195 people have been put under medical observation, and over 45.1 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted across the country, it said.
