Police detained a mentally-ill man who threatened to blow up an Alfa Bank branch in central Moscow on Saturday, local media reported.

Earlier in the day, the suspect, who is a Russian resident, took a food delivery bag to the bank and claimed he got a bomb in it, the Sputnik news agency said, citing Vladimir Vasenin, spokesman for the Moscow branch of the Interior Ministry.

At the time, the suspect, in a "mentally inadequate" state, took a hostage with a fake explosive device and livestreamed the incident via social media, according to TASS news agency.
