The University of Turku has switched to totally remote teaching after a number of coronavirus infections have been confirmed among the students of the faculty, said the university in a press release on Thursday.

The teaching of the Faculty of Medicine in the hospitals has been suspended and teaching will be organised with remote connections until 1 October 2020.

Students’ coronavirus infections have been mainly traced to meetings on leisure time.

The authorities responsible for communicable diseases are tracing the possible exposures, and testing if the coronavirus is active. The University works in close collaboration with the health officials.

The authorities also asked to send reports on coronavirus cases or suspected cases directly to Occupational Safety and Health Manager Satu Alanko, the press release added.
