A girl was injured on Monday after falling down from a ride at Linnanmäki amusement park in Helsinki.

The incident took place when the nine-year-old girl was riding on Mustekala (Octopus) and suddenly fell down, reported the national broadcaster Yle.

She was taken to hospital after the incident, although her condition was not stated to be critical.

The girl was conscious after the accident and she was not hit at her head, Linnanmäki amusement park Chief Executive Officer Pia Adlivankin told Yle quoting emergency officials of the hospital.

The authorities shut down the ride after the accident and investigation is on to find the reason behind the accident.

The authorities, however, hinted that the probe into the incident might be difficult as there was no eyewitness.

The CEO of the park claimed all the rides of the park are checked every day before the park is opened for people.

The Octopus ride has been in operation at the park without incident since 1985, the Yle report quoted Adlivankin as saying.
